Companies from each of the three Baltic countries (co-) operate the Baltic Optical Network (BON). At the end of August 2002, Riga-based Latvenergo, Lietuvos Energija, from Vilnius, and Televõrk, from Tallinn, teamed up to offer co-location and transmission capacity from 2 Mbps to 2.5 Gbps on a joint network of more than 8,000 km, spanning Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia.
BON also operates high-capacity connections to the Russian metropolis Moscow and St. Petersburg. All three companies offer capacity, SDH, PDH, ATM, and IP services, maintenance, and day-and-night fault resolution through their highly skilled technical staff the whole year round. Depending on the customers’ needs, conversations can be held in Estonian, Latvian, Lithuanian, Russian, and English.
BON joined the 4cE alliance in October 2003.
